What students say when it's over

Absolutely the most Awesome Riding school ever. Here’s my story: Received my Motorcycle operator training completion card in 2007. It was a gift and I never thought I would need my motorcycle license so I never went into the DMV to get my class M. Now in 2023, my husband came home with a Yamaha Zuma for me. I drive it and absolutely love it. Guess what? I need a motorcycle license to drive it. I went to a motorcycle safety course to obtain my completion card again. I went for training and left feeling defeated and as if I could never drive a motorcycle. But I do drive, I just need to be in compliance with the law. The facility I went to in Pasadena, TX, failed me. The class was so long and grueling. It was 3 days long.

For those who failed, since they finished the course early you would think they would use the time left in the class to assist those who failed. Nope, not an option. You have to pay again and suffer through the most miserable classroom time I’ve ever endured. I kept getting calls, texts, and emails to come in and purchase a ***. When I said I failed the second time around, they said no worries take it again and I’m sure you will pass. Come pick your bike out. Desperate for my class M, and to NOT go back to the *** motorcycle safety class, I started looking for a different facility to take my course.

So fortunate, that I found Awesome Riding. I left a message for them and didn’t expect them to respond so quickly. David called me back and he took the time to hear my story and advised me to come in and take their 1 day course. My confidence was so low because of just failing the day before. He just said to trust myself and that if I learned on a buelle in 07 and passed, he finds it really hard that I didn’t pass the second time around. I trusted David, and signed up for the 1 day course. Before I go on, I almost didn’t sign up and the night of 10/16 almost 10/17, I went online to sign up and was having some difficulties. David, actually contacted me at midnight to assist me. My husband was so impressed. He said, he had a good feeling about this place. My hubby was right!!

This course was night and day to the *** course. This course was AMAZING. *** apparently is still doing the old curriculum and having everyone suffer. Amazing Driving School advised me that after the 6 hour ecourse, there is no more classroom time and if I were to fail the 1 day that they would work with me to assist me and my riding skills so that I would be a successful and safe driver.

I took the course and David Y was my instructor/new friend. He said he couldn’t believe that I didn’t pass the *** course and he wishes he was a fly on the wall as to know how they could have not passed me. He said I aced his class. I almost cried when the class was over. He made it so fun and built up my confidence again. I was the only girl in the class and he said I did better and drove faster than the two guys in the class. I will NEVER step foot into the *** place again. I will forever advise everyone to go to Awesome Driving school. There are just no words that could ever describe how thankful I am for them. Please if you are looking around for a motorcycle class, stop looking and go here. I cannot stress this enough! I’ve already recommended someone else who failed the *** course with me to come to this school. I failed on 10/15 at ***, took Awesome Driving course on 10/17, now getting my license updated to class C M on 10/19. So thankful and excited to be on the road legally! Ever since watching Trinity rip through the streets on that Ducati in The Matrix Reloaded, I’ve had this dream of learning to ride. That scene imprinted on my soul. But when I finally tried to make it real, my first BRC at another riding school was an absolute nightmare. The class was overcrowded, the bike they gave me was faulty, and the instructor was impatient, dismissive, and rude. I left that class in tears, convinced I was the problem. I actually started calling around for private riding lessons (which are NOT cheap) because I thought I needed one-on-one training just to function.

That’s when I found Awesome Riding. Before signing me up for the private lessons I was ready to throw money at, their team encouraged me to try the BRC one more time, and WOW. I am SO glad I listened. The experience was like NIGHT and DAY.

From the moment I stepped onto the range, everything felt different:

• The class size was small and manageable.
• The environment was calm and encouraging.
• The equipment actually WORKED.
• And my instructor, Travis, was INCREDIBLE.

Let me talk about Travis for a second because he truly made all the difference: He’s patient, clear, steady, and genuinely invested in seeing every student succeed. No ego, no attitude, no talking down to people. He gives instructions in a way that makes everything click. If you’re nervous, he meets you with calm. If you’re overthinking, he grounds you. If you’re struggling, he finds a better way to explain it. I saw every student in my class grow, including myself.

By Day 2, I went from doubting everything to passing with confidence, understanding, and actual JOY. This school gave me the riding experience I had hoped my first one would be. It was truly transformative.

A NOTE TO NEW RIDERS (LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE): Please, please listen to your gut when choosing a riding school. A BRC isn’t “just a class.” The environment, the instructor, and the equipment can make or break your entire experience and your confidence. Ask these questions before signing up anywhere:

• How many students per class?
• How many instructors per range?
• What condition are the training bikes in?
• What’s the teaching style like?
• What level of support do they offer nervous riders?

These things MATTER. I wish someone had told me that before I wasted time, money, and tears at my first school.

FINAL VERDICT: If you’re even THINKING about learning to ride, especially if you’re nervous, inexperienced, or had a bad first attempt, go to Awesome Riding and ask for Travis. He changed the entire trajectory of my riding journey. I walked in unsure and walked out with my M ENDORSEMENT (!!) and a huge sense of accomplishment. I’m so grateful. This is the school that turned my Matrix dream into reality.

Awesome Riding is exactly right. My wife and I signed up a few months back to take a class at one of the other schools listed on here. I had a medical issue a couple weeks prior so I didn’t complete the class, my wife did complete the class. With no point of comparison at the time, the class seemed great. Fast forward a few weeks, I was ready finally to take my class, after being talked to rather rudely by the woman answering the phone at the previous school, I decided to sign up at Awesome Riding instead. That was the best decision I could have made, the experience at Awesome Riding was head and shoulders above what I witnessed at the other place.

The equipment here wasn’t brand new (they are training bikes after all) But it was VERY well maintained and much newer than what my wife had to ride during her class. The Range we rode on was much larger and a lot less confined than the other range (you could actually feel a breeze if one chose to blow on this one) the surface was nice and smooth. The other one was an old asphalt parking lot that looked like a patchwork quilt from being repaired so many times over the years.

Mike and David were top notch instructors, the instructions were read the first time word for word as MSF wrote them. After that Mike would spend as much time as needed to make sure everyone understood what we were trying to accomplish and how we needed to do it. We talked through each exercise and them that was followed by a demonstration by David on the course. After the demonstration ride, on the more complicated maneuvers they would bring us over to watch David demonstrate the weight shifts hand positions etc. while sitting still. That was usually followed by us sitting on the bikes and doing a dry walk through of weight shifts leaning, hand motions etc. (this wasn’t on all of them, just the more complicated ones)

Again, I am 100% satisfied with my experience with these guys, I will be going back with my Wife in about 6 months to take the advanced course. This is the first review I have done on Yelp, (wife usually does these....lol) but after what I witnessed at the other place, I wanted to acknowledge someone trying to do things the right way and help them out if I could.
